Chief Inspector Sheffield is a character from Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. He is the chief inspector of the police force of Monte d'Or.
Biography[]
Appearance[]
Sheffield is a dark-skinned man who sports platinum blonde hair that has greyed half way and a crescent-shaped mustache. His head is large and square while his face is very small in contrast, he has no visible nose, and the sclera of his eyes is black. He wears a red blazer over and white dress shirt and a blue tie, green pants, brown shoes, and a brown belt with a gold buckle.
Plot[]

Chapter 3: Discord In Monte d’Or[]
After Professor Hershel Layton, Luke Triton and Emmy Altava are encouraged to visit Monte d’Or city hall by Alphonse Dalston, they speak with the mayor and learn that a special task force has been set up to combat the Masked Gentleman. This task force is led by Inspector Clamp Grosky and Detective Inspector Leonard Bloom. Sheffield, chief inspector of the local police force, does not approve of Monte d’Or reaching out to Scotland Yard for assistance, and also gains an instant disliking for Bloom. Initially, he doesn’t think much of Layton, until he proves his intellect during the task force meeting. Thanks to Layton’s assistance, three of the supposed ’miracles’ are solved, and Sheffield gains a respect for the professor. Following the Gentleman’s next miracle. Sheffield places Dalston under arrest for aiding him, having been tipped off by Henry Ledore.
Chapter 5: On The Gentleman’s Trail[]
Sheffield takes the lead on Dalston’s interrogation, claiming that he wanted to ruin Henry’s businesses and frame him, in order to marry the woman he loved, Angela Ledore. He also believed that only Dalston could have committed the crimes, as he is the only citizen of Monte d’Or with a private chariot, which was used in the petrification incident. He was so confident in his theory that he posted no officers in Tingly Town, where the Masked Gentleman announced he would appear next.
Chapter 7: The Reunion Inn[]
Having released Dalston due to the incident in Tingly Town, Sheffield discovers that a chariot was stolen from the Racetrack by somebody who mingled with the chariot inspectors. He tells Layton that Bloom is currently at the racetrack, and Layton goes there to gather more information.
Chapter 8: The Final Miracle[]
Sheffield follows Layton’s instructions after the sand is released, evacuating citizens to the top floor of their homes. He informs the professor that Bloom has disappeared, believing that he has fled following the disaster. After Layton saves the city, he goes to the Ledore Mansion to fetch Mrs. Ascot, as she has much to tell her son Randall Ascot.
