Early Life[]

Clark Triton studied archaeology in university with Layton, where the two became good friends. Ten years before the events of Last Specter, Luke, his son, was born.

A year before Last Specter, Clark witnessed Evan Barde's death. He received all of Evan's land in his will, which had been altered by Levin Jakes on Jean Descole's orders.

Six months later, after Clark had become the mayor of Misthallery, his wife Brenda was kidnapped by Descole, who disguised himself as their also-kidnapped butler Doland Noble. Clark was blackmailed into keeping quiet by Descole in order to protect her and Doland, and forced to cooperate with Descole's plans.

Professor Layton and the Last Specter[]

Chapter 1: The Fog of Misthallery[]

Clark is surprised by Layton and Emmy's sudden visit, having not penned the letter that summoned them and was written in his name. He tells them that while the letter was fake, the specter mentioned in it was real, and was destroying Misthallery. When Layton asks to meet Luke, Clark warns him that Luke rarely leaves his room or speaks to him as of late.

Chapter 2: The Boy Who Foretold Disaster[]

After Layton and Emmy solve Luke's door puzzle, Clark follows them into Luke's room. Luke refuses to speak to him, turning his back to him. Clark lets slip that he believes Luke's withdrawn state is his fault, then quickly excuses himself and leaves for his office, but not before pleading with Luke to speak to Layton.

Chapter 7: Third Eye Jakes[]

Layton, Emmy, and Luke return to Triton Manor to ask Clark what he knows about the circumstances of Evan Barde's death. He tells them that he saw a person fall from the cliff, that there had been no one else nearby that he could see, and that he hadn't known at the time that the person who fell had been Barde. Clark says the unusual inheritance arrangement in Barde's will may be because Barde was the only friend Clark had in town who he could discuss intellectual things with, but that he was still surprised by it. He planned to oversee the land only until Arianna or Tony Barde come of age to claim it. When Layton asks Clark whether he agrees with Chief Jakes that Barde's death was a suicide, Clark deflects before asking if Layton believes Jakes to have been involved.

Doland interrupts the conversation, suggesting that it is time for Clark to have dinner, and Clark insists Layton and Emmy stay for the meal. He asks Layton to choose a wine from the cellar. When Doland suggests selecting the wine himself, Clark insists Layton be the one to pick, falsely claiming that Layton is a wine afficionado. Layton picks up on the purpose of the lie, that there is something Clark wants him to see in the cellar, and plays along. Doland relents, but still insists on at least accompanying Layton in selecting the wine.

Chapter 10: A Legend Revealed[]

Clark is present at the plaza to witness Chief Jakes' unveiling of the specter and Layton's counter-reveal with one of Descole's excavation machines. The camera lingers on him in the cutscene when Layton goes to unveil the true mastermind behind the specter, before Layton accuses Doland, truly Descole in disguise. He evacuates with the rest of the townspeople as Descole's machines begin to tear through the town.

Epilogue: The Last Gift[]

In the post-credits cutscene, Clark and Doland are packing the car to leave for London. He watches with Brenda as Arianna gives Luke a goodbye kiss.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask[]

Although Clark does not make a physical appearance in the game, Luke tells the ringmaster's rabbit that he inherited the ability to talk to animals from his father.

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy[]

After Last Specter, Clark had quit his job as mayor of Misthallery, and moved with Brenda and Luke back to London.

He has been tasked by the director of the museum with investigating the recent stolen and returned artifacts. He, along with Layton and Desmond Sycamore, discover that the "returned" items are actually forgeries.

Later, he can be found at Gressenheller University, repairing the machine featured in the World Times article A Bright Future for Archaeology!

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future[]

Although Clark does not make a physical appearance in the game, it is mentioned that Luke's father is getting a new job overseas, and he takes his family with him to America after Luke and Layton's case in Future London is solved.
