Professor Layton Wiki
Collection

The Collection is a set of rare items found by investigating locations. The collection appears in Professor Layton and the Last Specter, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, and Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy. It can be found in The Professor's Trunk like most other minigames and extra features like Episodes.

With each item, Professor Layton offers a small description, detailing the item's features. In Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy, when viewing an item in the trunk in 3D; it will look more realistic. All of the items will automatically do a 360 degree rotation of themselves in these games as well. In Azran Legacy, a second item finding feature, similar to the Collection, is present in the form of the Treasure Hunt.

Last Specter Collection[]

All 24 items are found all around Misthallery and small parts of London. The items themselves range from a simple bowl to a chunk of silver ore. Aldus is the person who first informs Professor Layton, Emmy, and Luke about the Collection. He tells them to tap on a near-by pipe, and upon doing so, the Tiny Fossil item is given. The rest must be found by tapping on random objects and scenery throughout the game.

    • The Musical Box of Memories depicts Anton Herzen and Sophia
    • The Loveable Lake-dweller plushie is based on Loosha from Last Specter
  • Millionaires' Conspiracy particularly is also the first game where one of the Collection items has been changed between versions, as the 37th item was originally the Yo-kai Watch in the Mobile and 3DS version (an obvious reference of the eponymous LEVEL-5 franchise), which was renamed into the Melted Timepiece in the Deluxe Edition (a reference to the famous The Persistence of Memory by artist Salvador Dalí).
  • Some of the Collection items are foreshadowing the truth that will be discovered later in the game.
    • The Dirty Cape, found in the cellar of Triton Manor, looks very similar to that of Descole and is a hint of his presence in the house, in the very place he locked up Doland and Brenda Triton in.
    • The Captured Queen, found in Ledore Mansion's parlor, is a hint at Angela being captured in her own house. The caption "captured after a blunder" could refer to Randall's mistake of thinking Angela is her foe.
    • The Enigma Coin found on Dromedary Plaza, bears a "R". The caption interrogates its meaning, which is a hint for "Randall", meant to return in this chapter.
