Grant Sloanes is a character appearing in Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy and its anime adaptation. He is one of the Seven Dragons of London, the owner of The Layman's Reserve bank.

Appearance[]
Mr. Sloanes is a tall and large man with tan skin, pointy ears, black hair with greying temples, a pencil-thin moustache, and a beard. He wears a light blue suit over a white shirt and a green necktie, as well as black shoes.
Personality[]
Despite his tough-looking apppearance, Sloanes is actually a very kind individual. He's also very forgiving, as seen on his reaction to Bianca Teller.

Millionaires' Conspiracy[]
In Case 6: An Unexpected Windfall, Sloanes requests Katrielle Layton to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the 100,000,000 pounds inside the bank's vault that went mysteriously missing the previous night. The vault itself was a product produced by another of Sloanes's company, a supposedly unpenetrable state of the art safe called the Hermet 5000.
In truth, the money's disappearance wasn't a theft at all: the vault's air ventilation system, put in place to preserve deposited jewels and art pieces to optimal environments, had malfuctioned the night before, creating an air lock inside the chamber. When Mr. Shinplasters came to open the vault's door, the resulting vacuum was so strong it not only sucked in Shinplasters, breaking his legs and knocking him out, but it also made all pound bills be expelled via the ventilation system out of the building and into the sky, where it then went to parts unknown all over London.
Since such a malfunction was not covered by the insurance, meaning that the bank would have to pay all the missing money, the General Manager Bianca Teller, having figured what had actually happened, thought that it would had been better to pass it up instead as grand larceny, and then resign from her position as compensation for the resulting fraud. However, before such insurance fraud could happen, Katrielle discovered the truth during her initial investigation; Sloanes, her old friend and boss, having managed to retrieve most of the dispersed money thanks to Katrielle's directions, then decided to forgive Teller for the attempted fraud, as the lost 20 million pounds was overall a better price to pay then selling the faulty vault model to other banks and then pay for any potential other incidents.
As such, the grateful Teller was able to keep her job as general manager. Furthermore, Sloanes took the occasion to further improve the design of the safe, creating the new Hermet Mega-Safe model, immediately installing it into the Layman Security bank; as thanks, Sloanes paid the Layton Detective Agency their earned fee, and also delivered some flowers to Katrielle.
