Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat's Mystery-Solving Files is an upcoming TV animation of the Professor Layton series. It will air in Spring 2018. It was first announced in Fall 2017[1], listing it for a 2018 release with 26 episodes. A later announcement of a Singapore-based distribution company refers to the series as "Lady Layton Mystery Journey" and lists it as having 50 episodes of 30 minutes[2].
Plot
The anime will follow the adventures of Katrielle Layton and her dog Sherl. It is unknown wheter it adapts the story of the game, or if it will be an independent story.
The official website describes the story of the anime:
"Professor Layton's daughter, Katrielle Layton, runs the Layton Detective Agency together with the talking dog Sherl and her assistant Ernest, and solves strange cases that happen everyday in London. Originally, she started the job with the purpose of finding her father, Hershel Layton, who had disappeared suddenly, but her incredible ability to solve puzzles made her well-known and she receives numerous requests."
