US Version

UK Version

The cat's owner has four possible moves at the start. Two of these moves can result in her catching the cat.

The key to this puzzle is that the owner owner moves before her cat. Try to think where the best place to catch the cat could be.

US Version

The best place to be if you want to catch the cat is in the spot that has most most connections.

The cat has a number of positions it could land on by the third move, so the owner should aim at the one with the most options.

UK Version

The best place for the girl to be in order to catch the cat is the spot that has the most connections.

The cat could be at a number of locations after three moves, but the owner should still aim to be at one specific letter.

US Version

Where could the cat be after his third move?

There are four possible places it could be hiding. Once you know that, it should be obvious where the owner has to go on her third move.

UK Version

Where might the cat be after its third move?

It could be one of four places. If you know where these places are, the position where the owner has to be should be obvious.

US Version

By the third move, the cat will be at either C, E, F, or H. Regardless of where the cat is on his third move, there is only one place that guarantees the cat's owner can catch him on her fourth move.

UK Version

After its third move, the cat will be at spot C, E, F or H. Whichever of these it is, there is only one place the owner can be to ensure she catches the cat on her next move.

Solution

Incorrect

Too bad!

US Version

Looks like that naughty cat is still on the loose.

UK Version

It looks like that naughty cat is still on the loose.

Correct

Correct!

US Version

The cat's owner must move either E-F-A or F-E-A. The cat's third move will leave him at either C, E, F, or H. If she's on spot A by her third move, she'll be able to get the jump on that cat and catch him on her very next move.

UK Version

The key is to move E-F-A or F-E-A. The cat's third move must place it at C, E, F or H. If the girl is on spot A after her third move, she will be able to catch it on her next one, regardless of where the cat is.
