Checkerboard Caps is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Last Specter.

Here are 16 people standing in four rows of four.

By moving only two caps, find a way to create a checkerboard pattern of people with and without visible brown hair.

Of course, to meet this requirement each row and column must contain an equal number of people with brown hair and without brown hair.

It goes without saying that you need to split up any lines of people wearing caps and people without caps.

If you're low on caps, you'll need to find another solution.

Did you take off everyone's cap?

You should find one person with white hair. This is decidedly not brown. Can you use this person for the checkerboard pattern you need?

Correct!

Someone with white hair was hidden among the rest. It was possible to evenly line up those with brown hair and those without after all!
