Faces on Vases (Flower Vases in the UK version) is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. The puzzle must be solved in order to progress the story.

US Version

At an antique store, a wealthy gentleman is looking at three flower vases, each with a different portrait painted on it.

"Well, would you look at that! This one looks just like me! I'll take it."

Which vase did the man choose?

UK Version

At an antique store, a rich man is looking at flower vases that thave portraits painted on them.

"Wow, the profile, the big belly - it looks just like me! I'll take this one!"

The vases only have faces painted on them, though...

Which vase did the man choose?

Click a Tab to reveal the Hint.

The gentleman isn't referring to the faces painted on the vases. Try taking a look from farther waway.

Try rotating the vases and looking at them from a few different angles. That might help you find what the gentleman is talking about.

There's one vase that matches the gentleman's profile perfectly if you look at its contour.

Look at each vase upside down. See the silhouette created by the empty space along the contour? One of the vases matches the gentleman's profile exactly.

Too bad!

Compare each vase to the gentleman's appearance, and see if you can find anything in common.

US Version

He picked vase A. If you turn it upside down and look at the profile as shown above, it matches the wealthy gentleman perfectly, right down to the sizable belly!

UK Version

That's right!

It was vase A.
Turn it upside down and look at the contours. They fit the man's profile perfectly!
