Fairly Shared Squares is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask.

Puzzle

These four siblings have a big piece of chocolate to share between them. They want to divide it up so that each of them gets a chunk of identical shape and size containing an almond.

How can they divide the chocolate fairly? Draw lines to show where the chocolate should be divided.

Hints

Click a Tab to reveal the Hint.

Start by counting how many individual squares of chocolate there are, then work out how many each sibling should get.

Each sibling should receive a chunk of chocolate consisting of five squares. They also need one almond each.

Draw a line so that the top two rows are separated from the rest of the chocolate. That's one sibling's portion.

Now find a way to divide the rest of the chocolate so that the others get a piece the same size and shape as this one.

Once you've separated the top two rows, do the same for the bottom two. Now you've made two identical pieces.

US Version

Next, start from the almond on the third row, count four squares along, and draw a line down between the fourth and fifth squares to the left and then around the top-left corner of the almond on the fourth row. That should do it!

UK Version

Next, start from the almond on the third row, count four squares along and draw a line down between the fourth and fifth square on that row. Continue that line back two squares to the left and then round the top-left corner of the almond on the fourth row. That should do it!
