Fake Fragments is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. The puzzle must be solved in order to progress the story.

The police managed to recover this ancient artefact after it was stolen from the museum. Unfortunately, it has been broken.

While examining the pieces to see if the artefact could be repaired, the curator noticed that some fake pieces were mixed in with the real ones.

You have a photo of the artefact from the museum's catalogue. Use it to identify the real pieces, then place them in the boxes for safekeeping.

Compare the pieces you've got against the photograph of the real artefact. Each piece has its own unique characteristics, which should make it easy to spot if there are any differences between the pieces you've got and the real thing.

Of the nine pieces you've got, seven of them have the same shape has the ones depicted in the photograph. Look carefully before submitting your answer, though.

Don't take things at face value. If anything looks suspicious, you need to investigate it carefully.

Look at the photograph in its entirety. Isn't there something strange about it?

Take a close look at the numbers on the left of the photograph. That's right - they're back to front.

This means that the entire photograph is the wrong way round! You need to consider the reverse of each piece of the artefact when making your comparison.

Too bad.

Are you sure you haven't missed anything?

Well reflected!

Only two of the pieces were actually real!
The fact that the photograph was developed the wrong way round made life difficult, but you got there in the end.

The forger must have mixed in some real pieces by mistake!
