Forest Friends 2 is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy.

Puzzle

Oh no, this man has got lost in the woods! Luckily, he bumps into nine forest animals, who will all help him find his way home in exchange for apples.

The mice each guide him one square closer to home, the rabbit two squares, the foxes three squares, and the bears four squares. He never meets two of the same type of animal in a row, and there are no animals on the squares containing bare trees.

Where does he bump into each animal?

Hints

Click a Tab to reveal the Hint.

There are many routes that look like they might get the man home. The correct route involves heading downwards at the second square he comes to.

After heading downwards at the first junction, as instructed in Hint 1, there are still four potential routes he could take to get home.

To help narrow down the possibilities, work out the total number of squares the nine animals will guide him along.

The nine animals will guide him across 25 squares in total, which means the route to his home will be 25 squares long. With this in mind, it should be easy enough to work out what the route is and to start slotting the animals into place.

Here are the first five animals who guide the man on his journey home: a mouse, a fox, a bear, another fox and then another bear.

Hint 3 revealed the identities of the first five animals, ending with a bear. The same applies to the next space: a rabbit or a bear would mean he'd stop by a bare tree, so the only other option here is a fox.

Solution

Incorrect

Too bad.

make sure the man is sent directly from one animal to the next so that he gets home safe!

Correct

Good work!

He's managed to make it out of the forest! It's just a shame it's cost him almost all of his apples.
