017 - Walking on Water018 - The Celestial King019 - A Dog of Tiles

The Celestial King is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. The puzzle must be solved in order to progress the story.

Puzzle

The walls of the Azran dome tell the story of the Celestial King and his children, the Riders of the Sky. Enraged by the Riders' constant warring, the king made four strokes with his sword and divided the land into ten continents.

Decrypt the story by re-enacting it, using four lines to divide the land into ten sections, separating the Riders. Draw lines between the points around the edge, but be careful: you can only use each point once, and no line may touch a Rider.

Hints

Click a Tab to reveal the Hint.

You might be finding it hard to draw lines that don't touch any Riders, so here's a tip: start by drawing a horizontal line that divides the area in half.

It should have three Riders above it and two below it.

Next, you need to draw lines from the two highest points. Do it correctly and the lines will form an X shape. This should be easy enough so long as you make sure that the lines don't touch any Riders.

If you followed the previous two hints correctly, you've already managed to separate those quarrelsome Riders. It's not ever yet, though!

You still have one line left to add, and there aren't many places where you can do that without touching a Rider. Oh, and don't forget that you also have to divide the land into ten parts.

If you place the first three lines as describe in the earlier hints, then the last line you need to draw will pass very close to the leftmost Rider. Draw this last line correctly and all the puzzle's conditions should be satisfied.

Solution

Incorrect

Too bad.

It's a challenging puzzle, to be sure...

Correct

Delightfully divided!

The walls of the dome represent a map of the world, and you've just created five intersections with your lines.

Ever heard the saying "X marks the spot"?
