Watermelon Bounce (Watermelon Wonder in the UK version) is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Last Specter.

Puzzle

US Version

You want to drop a watermelon from the top of a ladder and use some trampolines to bounce it over to your partner.

You need to position the trampolines cleverly so that the watermelon doesn't hit the walls when it bounces. Of course, you can't let it hit the ground either.

Place the trampolines on the grid by drawing lines with your stylus. You have a limited amount of trampoline material available, so keep an eye on how much you use.

US Version

The way the watermelon bounces will depend on the distance it falls and the angle of the trampolines.

First try it out to get a sense of how the watermelon bounces.

The way that the watermelon bounces will depend on the distance it falls and the angle of the trampolines.

First of all, try it out to get a sense of how the watermelon bounces.

Begin by trying to get the watermelon to bounce through the narrow gap between the small wall second from the top and the slanted one beneath it.

US Version

The gap looks narrow, but it's surprisingly simple to bounce the watermelon through.

UK Version

The gap looks narrow, but it's perfectly possible to bounce the watermelon through.

US Version

OK, here's how to shoot the watermelon through the gap between the second and third walls from the top:

You need to place a gently sloped trampoline at the same height as the fifth rung of the ladder.

Once you work this out, you only need to place one more trampoline to get the watermelon over to your partner.

UK Version

Okay, here's a way to shoot the watermelon through the gap between the second and third walls from the top. If you place a gently sloped trampoline at the height of the fifth rung of the ladder from the bottom, that should do the trick.

Once you manage this, you only need to place one more trampoline to get the watermelon to your partner.

US Version

An alternate solution is to bounce the watermelon between the two slanted walls. This is a bit tricky, but it makes for a great challenge!

Solution

Correct

Fantastic!

US Version

There are a number of possible routes to bounce the watermelon. Why not see if you can work out all of them?
