Weighted Marbles is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask.


These colorful marbles are all the same size, but each one has a different weight. The number on each marble tells you its weight in grams.

Your challenge is to arrange the marbles in the grid so that each line of four weighs 34 grams total.

Some of the marbles are already in place. Can you work out where the rest of them need to go?

The simplest place to start is the line on the top left.

Take a look at the line with 11 and 8 and the line with 6 and 3.

These two lines share a space. Try working out which marble goes here.

The line with 11 and 8 needs another 15 grams. The line with 6 and 3 needs 25 grams. You can fill these lines with the marbles weighing 5, 10 and 15 grams.

The marble that goes in the shared space weighs 10 grams.

Now try working through the other lines in a similar way.

After following Hint 3, you should have a line containing 14 and 5. This shares a space with the line containing 7 and 16.

The line with 14 and 5 needs another 15 grams, while the 7 and 16 is 11 grams shy of 34. Fill these with the 2-, 9-, and 13-gram marbles.

After that, you just have to plug in any remaining marbles and you're done!



Too bad.
