"There's one particular café that I love visiting on a Saturday morning. To get there, I catch a bus and go one stop, then walk northwest along a straight road, turn right at the next crossroads, turn right again at the crossroads after that, walk to the end of the road and turn left, then walk on until I see the cake shop on the right and cross over to the café opposite. After entering the café, I like to sit with the street I just cam from on my left. If the streets all lie perpendicular to one another, which direction will I be facing?"

If she started walking northwest and turned right onto a perpendicular street. She'd now be facing northeast. Another right turn and it's southeast. Are you following so far?

Continuing from where you left the woman in Hint 2, once she reaches the end of the street and turns left, she'll be facing northeast. The cake shop opposite the café on the north side. When she sits inside the café with the street to her left, which direction will she be facing?

The street the café is on runs southwest to northeast, with the café on the north side. If she enters the café and choose a seat with the street of her left, she's effectively turning back to face the direction she came up the street from.
