Please expand!! Edit
I am aware that some people will be worried about spoilers, but can you put a spoiler warning at the top or something, I would just like to know the plot of the game. If anyone knows it, can you please tell me it.
- Please, calm down. What do you exactly want? If you want a spoiler warning, I'll add it. If you want the page to be expanded, call somebody who knows Japanese and tell it to expand the page. --Layton Fan 123 23:35, January 22, 2011 (UTC)
- I see... OK, spoilers ahead.
The game is about the Specter's Flute, a flute that makes a specter appear. Then Layton receives a letter from Clark Triton, his friend and Luke's father. In his way to Mist Haley, a crazy woman with a motorcycle runs in front of the Laytonmobile, almost causing an accident. The woman turns out to be Emmy Altava, who turned in his assistant. Reaching Mist Haley, Layton talks about the letter with Clark but he says he didn't write anything, and his son must have wrote it. They go to Luke's room, where Luke assumes he wrote the letter and says the world will end. Then Layton asks the butler why he's saying that, and the butler says Luke saw a type of specter destroying buildings from the village. Then Layton and co. wait until night for the specter to appear. Everyone but Luke seems doubty about the rumour but when they hear a flute playing a specter appears. Luke looks frightened when he sees the specter (which keeps destroying buildings) and hides himself in fear. In the next day, they search the village for clues but get attacked by the Black Crow, a witch. (Thanks for Emmy's moves, the witch is defeated) After defeating it, Layton asks if he can join the Black Market and the witch accepts, however he must pass in a test to be eligible for it. The Black Crow gives then a hint to Layton and says he must find his way on your own. They return to the house and find a witch, Yula, sitting in a chair next to the window. She wonders why are they here and, while Luke has a crush on her, they say that they are here to find hints on how to join the Black Market and know what the specter is. *unable to find out translation here* Then she speaks with Luke and they meet each other. She gets him to view the stars. While that, Layton and co. look around and find a old man. *insert puzzle here* *Yula leaves then lots of things happen* Layton goes to look at Yula but she says they can't go close or else they'll be cursed. But Layton says the curse of the catastropic witch isn't on her, but on the old man. *lots of discussion* The old man takes off the mask and the man is actually a friend of Yula. *again, moment of unabling of finding translation here* Layton and co. go to the town and a big machine appears and tries to kill them. The man behind it turns out to be Jean Descole, which Layton notes to appear to know him from before. They appear to be at a few moments of being defeated, but suddenly a lot of water appears from nowere and stops the machine from working. Then a whale appears and Yula reveals that its name is Lagushi, and she is the resposible for saving Layton and co.'s life. She was Yula's pet. Lagushi appears to be dying because there is no water, so it tries to hit the town's barrage gate. It works, and Lagushi is happy. They find a hole in the barrage that goes into a passage that goes to a lake. The lake turns out to be the lake where Lagushi played with Yula and her friend with the whale. However, Lagushi is very much hurt because of its try to open the barrage gate, so Yula plays the same song again with her flute since the whale is dying, and then she cries and remembers when she used to play with it. Then Layton and co. are ready for another adventure: this puzzle is solved. When leaving, Luke receives a kiss from Yula and gets embarassed. We have two candidates for the Specter's real identity: Descole's machine or Lagushi itself (more probable).
That was... LONG. Whew. --Layton Fan 123 01:43, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Is the character of Naiya based on Yuko Ando, who sang the ending theme in the Japanese version?
We should have articles for the minigames for LS such as the train. And solutions for them and where you can get them. I've beaten all the trains except hugo's. 188.8.131.52 02:38, December 31, 2011 (UTC)
- We're getting there. We're still finishing adding pictures to the LS puzzle pages, but we always add the minigame pages, like the Toy Car from UF. (And if you want cheats for Hugo's train course, go here)

The song that plays when Luke and Arianna look up at the stars isn't in the soundtrack, so can I add that to the Trivia section? I just noticed that. 184.108.40.206 21:14, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
